Tuesday was a great day! After work I was able to go listen to Erin Gruwell speak on campus. She is the teacher from Freedom Writers. I'm sure some of you have seen the movie based on her life as a teacher and her experiences working in the inner city of Long Beach. Her story is incredible, but the stories of her students are unbelievable. She told us why she became a teacher. She said no one at the age of 15 should have no hope. To say the least she was inspiring! If you haven't see Freedom Writers I suggest you do so immediately and read the book.
